Even tough its not in Australia, this is a special project that we want to share with you. Garden Plaza is a development project offering a luxurious lifestyle in its residences and retail mall. This project is situated in Cyberjaya, the high tech district of Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur. The aim of this project was to create a green space for the 3,000 residents where they can relax and chill out after a hard day at the office or school. Royal Grass® dealer Eco Outdoor Sdn Bhd teamed up with the Urban Design Group (UDG) to realise this and to turn this area into a green oasis.
For the driveway, UDG designed 300 separate squares, each of one square meter in size, to be covered with artificial turf. Royal Grass® partner Eco Outdoor in Kuala Lumpur was commissioned to execute this project. The Eco Outdoor specialists recommended using polystyrene for the squares as this is a very durable product. In addition, it is very easy to install the artificial turf on top of it. Royal Grass® Silk20 was chosen as the type of artificial grass because of its short blades and fresh look. Silk20 is often used for rooftops and design elements. It looks very realistic and thanks to the short blades the turf always looks nice and fresh.
Grass to withstand heavy burden
The project developer wanted to extend the idea of green living so in addition to the installation of the vertical artificial grass, he decided to use artificial grass to cover the central piazza as well. Three pyramids covered by grass were built. As the architects thought that people would lay down and walk on the pyramids, they were looking for a turf that would withstand heavy burden without showing any signs of deterioration. Eco Outdoor recommended using Royal Grass® Silk25 for the pyramids. This type of turf is very suitable for walking or playing areas.
The collaboration of UDG and Eco Outdoor resulted in the perfect solution for this difficult challenge. The use of Royal Grass® artificial grass has led to a stunning green haven where residents can come to relax and kick back.
