The Perth City Link Project is an urban regeneration project combining coffee shops, offices and a hotel. Wellington gardens has become a stellar attraction of the project. The brief for Wellington Gardens was to create a verdant and enticing landscape; a green area in front of the buildings for people to relax, do homework or dream away. The area should be able to withstand high traffic. That’s why synthetic grass was chosen instead of natural grass.
Royal Grass® partner Viva Grass worked on the project in close cooperation with the architects from Deep Green Landscaping and designer Nicole Voevodin-Cash from Melbourne. “It was a challenging job but rewarding job looking at the end result”, Glenn Cosier of Viva Grass explains. “We had to create rolling hills of grass to sit on.
In addition, many small pieces of grass had to be joined. As a lot of traffic is expected in the area, we selected Royal Gras Deluxe for this project. This is often used for play areas as well.”
Designer, Nicole Voevodin-Cash describes the space as, ‘the natural with the man-made, creating a theatre of the everyday. Giving rise to good social locations, while challenging the senses and the body.’
